Starting in September of 2020, I was hired as a graphic design/illustrator intern. A large part of my job was to work with grad students to design medical illustrations. I had to adjust my creative style, depending on the client. The styles vary from client to client. I would have to jump from animated-looking teeth and gums to illustrations that looked more like 3-dimensional renderings. This experience helped me develop my ability to work with clients and collaborate with individuals who did not have design language to help produce the product that they wanted/needed for their research.

While working at the dental school, I also had the opportunity to design pamphlets and flyers for miscellaneous events. For these materials, I had to work within the larger branding guidelines for the University of Michigan. This included strict color schemes, typeface rules, and logo regulations.

One of my favorite projects that I did while working at the dental school was designing a birthday card that would go out to a variety of stakeholders to the program. I had free reign to design whatever I wanted. I was able to come up with five or six designs that I developed in illustrator. The final design was approved by the dean of the school and was sent to print.
